The Community Transition Program in the our school district assists 18-21 year old students in special education who are in need of comprehensive transition services. Students in the Community Transition Program increase their ability to live independently and contribute to their community. Instruction occurs in a variety of settings including, School, Community, Work and Volunteer Experience Placements. Students in our program have a variety of disabilities such as Autism, Intellectual and Learning Disabilities, Communication and Other Health Impairments.
A majority of our students receive Social Security and Medicaid and qualify for free or reduced price lunch while at school.
Next school year we are providing transition services for 90 students, an increase from 63 this year. District funding of our program covers supplies only. In order to pay for other things needed to run a successful program, beyond our district budget, we create projects to help our students develop work skills.
My Project
CTP is growing, up and out. Help us accommodate our increasing numbers of students and provide additional vocational and volunteer opportunities.
We are bursting at the seams!
The requested greenhouse provides a space to instruct small groups of students in horticulture. We are looking forward to using the greenhouse to produce a variety of vegetables, flowers and gifts for use in our Nutrition program, donations to the Oregon Food Bank and sales to our local community. Students will increase their knowledge of healthy food selections, vocational options and volunteer opportunities. Join the Community Transition Program Community in providing this opportunity to our students.
