My students need the pinwheel activity and incentive pencils as a group reward for their continued hard work. The other items help me to be prepared for the upcoming school year.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In spite of my second grade students coming from low income backgrounds, they show incredible resilience and have such a passion to learn. They do an amazing job explaining their thinking and working together as a team. In the English Language Arts (ELA) portion of the day, the students are actively engaged in asking and answering questions. The students also thoroughly enjoy reading to a buddy and listening to stories.
These students are creative in their writing and the stories that they read are a huge inspiration.
Almost all of the students are interested in Magic Tree House, Junie B Jones and Mo Willems books such as "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus" and much, much more.
In math, the students also have a solid foundation in their strategies and they are so attentive whenever they are learning something new. Overall, these students are an absolute joy to teach and I'd love your support in helping them to continue to excel in their educational journey.
My Project
My students do a great job each and every day that they come to school. These students refuse to be products of their environment and they constantly show such determination to do well in all subjects. Most students are self motivated but at such a young age I want to reward the students by giving them a chance to create their very own pinwheel.
While most students are intrinsically motivated there are those students who need concrete reinforcements for their hard work.
This craft activity gives those students a reason to try their best even when school can be difficult.
Another aspect of my project that will help me students to succeed are things like chart paper and glue sticks. I frequently use the chart paper to create visuals for the students and the glue sticks are necessary for when students glue in poems to their poetry book. In addition the name plates are also something very critical to student success. At the beginning of the year these sereve as reminders for the students about where they sit but the name plates also provide many other resources. These name plates have become over used and are fairly worn out. I plan to replace the student's old name plates and plan to keep some for the upcoming school year as well. This is an important contribution because it provides students with access to information on resources such as hundreds chart, shapes and their names, colors, and the alphabet.
