Many of my students have not yet learned the magic of education. The places it can take you and the goals it can help you reach have not yet become evident to these students.
This year, I hope to introduce students to that magic by transforming their school environment.
I hope to be a part of a movement at my school in which students become self-starters and truly understand the excitement, joy, and love of learning. Students in my school range from special needs to gifted within the walls of the same classroom. Our school's free and reduced lunch percentages were high enough that the school is now a "no-cost" school for breakfast and lunch. Many students come from low-income families and will only gain experiences within the classroom. I want my students to seek after their own education and if they are constantly told to sit still and be quiet, that will not happen.
My Project
The teachers of the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, GA are innovative practitioners in their field. They have a way of making students and educators alike excited about what they do! I want to bring that lust for learning back to my school! By attending the 2-day educator training at RCA, I will learn strategies to reinvigorate my teaching methods! The students at my school need teachers that are excited about the lessons and the teachers at RCA have ways of making lessons incredibly upbeat and exciting! My students need to take accountability for their own education! This is another thing that RCA teachers instill in students! I hope to bring the teachings of RCA teachers back to my colleagues so that we can transform the educational environment to one of high standards, high energy, and high expectations!
