Our elementary school library is used by first through fifth-grade students every week. Each class comes to the library for a thirty-minute period during which the library media teacher teaches a lesson, then reads a story and the students check out books before returning to their classroom.
My students are amazing kids who always come to the library ready to learn.
They experience a mix of print media and technology during our library lessons. Our discussions are engaging and often entertaining! Just yesterday, a second grade boy entered with his class and announced, "I love books!" I replied, "Me too!"
We are in need of a compact rolling whiteboard to enhance student learning! There are no whiteboards in our library. When I want to teach a lesson that requires writing, I have to use a small easel. The students have trouble seeing the easel if they are in the back of the room. Having a rolling white board will make a tremendous difference in my teaching and student learning.
My Project
My library does not have space for a permanent white board. When I need to teach a lesson that requires writing, I have to use a small easel. It is not a large enough space for the lesson, and it is difficult for the students in the back of the room to see.
Having a rolling white board in our library will make a tremendous difference in student learning.
The kids will be able to see what I am writing, and I will be able to include everything in one space without having to erase in order to create enough room to write.
Having a board on wheels will allow me to easily move the board from place to place depending on the grade level/age group visiting the library at a particular time during the school day. It will also be the perfect size to store in my back room when I am not on campus.
