Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a Title I school, my students face many challenges in and out of the classroom. The majority of my students receive free lunch. A large portion are also English language learners. Despite the many obstacles these students face, they are always ready and willing to learn. They work very hard and are eager to succeed in all areas. I am so proud of the work ethic and perseverance that these students show day in and day out.
My Project
Robotics adds a high interest, highly engaging experience for the students. My students will practice coding and computer programming skills to get our robots to complete various tasks. The robots will use code to get through mazes, knock down bowling pins, and to compete with other robots in races.
Using technology, such as the sphero robots, gives my students an opportunity to put into application their 21st century computer science skills.
In addition to the CS skills, my students will be practicing math skills such as angles, degrees and using math SMPs such as problem solving and persevering to complete tasks.
