My Students

We have a great group of 6th grade students at our school. They love to have fun in class, but yet study hard and help each other as well. They want to do well, and it shows in their work ethic. I love spending time with them. I would like to make school a place where they love spending time as well. Math is a tough subject and I want to come up with ways to instill that love of math in each one of them.

My Project

Many times kids do not realize that math and science go into so many different daily events. They have it in their heads that they do not like math or they do not like science. This STEM field trip will give them a chance to see that math and science can do some really cool things!

Part of this field trip has an actual STEM class where the students will be taking apart a roller skate to see how it works.

They will learn the science of it all. They will then be using what they learned to put the roller skate back together again.

Finally, the students will be able to enjoy the fruits of their labor by roller skating! This trip is a wonderful opportunity, but not possible without help. Our parents already are burdened down with many fees due to our state's financial crisis and lack of funding.
