Help me give my students the ability to learn when I use the mobile teaching easel. This would be used when working with my MTSS groups daily as well as my whole group instruction.
If you walked into my classroom, you would be greeted by many smiling first graders excited to be at school learning. Those first graders work throughout the school year improving their reading and math skills through a variety of lessons and activities. They all have their unique personality and learning styles. But, they all hold a special place in my heart.
My Project
Each day, I work with a small group of students on literacy skills through our MTSS groups. Many of these students struggle and are behind in reading. The main focus of this MTSS group is around reading leveled texts. To help with pre-reading skills, I would use this easel to introduce phonics skills. The students would be able to visually see the phonic skill as well as high-frequency words. With storage underneath my cart, I would hold supplies such as magnetic letters, picture cards, running records, etc.
My favorite part of the day, and the favorite to many of my students, is our 'carpet time'.
I would have the ability to roll my cart to this area of our room and use it for my whole group instruction. I would have the ability to introduce new words such as our sight words, spelling words, challenge words, etc. The students would have a large visual to look at and reference as I introduce our phonic skill. I would also use my easel to model effective writing strategies for my first graders.
