My students are 5th and 6th-graders that have chosen STEAM as their elective. While many are boys, there are plenty of girls that are inspired to learn about science and technology.
It is my goal as their teacher to encourage and inspire a sense of wonder about science and the natural world, and to develop the skills they are interested in.
Students come from a wide variety of backgrounds, but one thing they have in common is their love for learning.
My Project
In my STEAM Elective class, students play the role of real-life medical detectives as they solve medical mysteries through hands-on projects and labs, investigate how to measure and interpret vital signs, and learn how the systems of the human body work together to maintain health.
Students will use the Spheros to make the connection between how our body is coded by DNA and creating code to get a machine to do a job.
Spheros will provide additional resources for student learning and understanding. Coding is an important skill for the 21st-century and one that I really want my students to have the opportunity to become familiar with.
