Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach/coach at a Title 1 school. Over 90% of the students receive free or reduced lunch. Many of them come from low-income areas. Our students deserve positive resources to help cultivate positive skills. The cheer program does just that! Cheer provides a positive outlet for our students. Being apart of the squad gives the girls amazing confidence. The cheerleaders are self-motivated, talented and determined. The lack of resources doesn’t dampen their spirits, but you can help by funding cheer mats.

My Project

Our cheerleaders are enthusiastic, high-spirited, self-motivating, and intelligent individuals who possess a strong passion for cheer. The passion of our cheerleaders has inspired us to take their cheer to the next level of excellence, but this cannot be done without the proper equipment for safety. We currently have no cheer mats due to the allocation of funds being utilized for other purposes. These mats are needed to provide a safe platform for our cheerleaders to use during their camps, practices, and competitions. Our girls are going to be jumping, flipping, and performing new routines! The mats would ensure safety for practicing these routines, increase their strengthening and conditioning, and build the cheerleaders’ confidence in their skills.
