Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My fourth grade students this year are coming to school with smiles and high expectations for success. They love to read and write about anything and everything! From stories and books about babysitting, to sports, to the solar system. There are no limits to their passions!
Because we are in San Diego, we have many military families attending from the Naval base.
Our small school is about 65% Title I students. A third of the students in my class have special needs, along with ELD students. My goal is to provide academic excellence to our diverse, family-oriented "family" and to foster innovative critical thinking.
My Project
Have you ever had a good idea for a story but didn't know where to start? Having access to these story cubes will help my students start the story that is playing in their head and give the students that don't have a story playing a starting point. Anyone who has been in a classroom knows that when you only have one of something it's the one thing that each child wants; having multiple copies of the same dice will alleviate the squabble among the children and increase time spent on the writing task. The creativeness of these cubes will help even the most reluctant writer write!
