My Students

I have some amazing students that inspire me to be the best I can be. I am a severe needs teacher and work with students with intellectual disabilities with varying communication and mobility needs.

In my Integrated Learning Center (ILC) classroom we work on reading, writing, and math, but we also focus on life skills to prepare my students for life after school.

We participate in community outings to the grocery store and library. Throughout the school year the students participate in an ILC Coffee Cart to sell and deliver coffee and treats to the staff. Every year we host an annual ILC Restaurant which allows my students to "apply" for jobs, interview and then help run the restaurant for our staff and ILC families.

My Project

Like other students, my students with special needs are learning to navigate technology to become proficient technology users in this day and age. We are fortunate enough to have access to computers and iPads thanks to our school being 1:1 for technology, but we need classroom headphones in order to access our digital content on technology without distracting each other. Thanks to COVID, we've found a variety of digital platforms to help my students practice both math and reading skills, but we are unable to work on them as a class without having classroom headphones.
