Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As an ESE and ESOL inclusion teacher, my students come from many different backgrounds with very different needs and learning styles. I need equipment in my classroom that will motivate them to learn and engage them in the learning process.
My students face many challenges such as poverty and second language acquisition.
As an ESE inclusion teacher, I also service many students with disabilities. Many of my students are just learning the importance of education and how to be responsible for their own learning.
My Project
I am requesting Kindles to get the students excited about reading. Many of my students do not have access to tablets or e-readers. By having these resources in my classroom, my students will be excited about reading and want to read more! I plan to use these readers in small groups and as a resource for literature circles. My students will get to choose the books that are purchased for the Kindles which will make them even more excited to use them!
My project is so important because I feel that one of the most important jobs as an educator is to make students excited to come to school and want to learn.
By providing my students with tools that help to keep them engaged and excited about reading, I can accomplish this task easily. Kindles will help to ensure that my students leave my classroom at the end of the school year with a passion and love for reading!
