My Students

My students are innovative thinkers, passionate learners, and truly amazing individuals! They come to me every day with an unmatched enthusiasm for learning and creative problem-solving. We are a self-contained classroom which allows me the privilege to have my students for all subjects, all day; AND we were lucky enough to be together last year as well as a self-contained 3rd grade class! My students are a diverse, yet cohesive group of 4th graders that all strive to be the best they can be.

The past year was a tremendous test of my students' resiliency and strength as our entire student body and our community were heavily impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

For many students, school became their source of comfort and consistency as their entire world outside of school was literally washed away. This challenge was met head-on by my students who embraced their affected classmates as we continued to rebuild and learn as one.

My Project

With being a self-contained classroom, I have made it a priority to provide engaging opportunities to keep my students enthusiastic about learning throughout the school day. The introduction of flexible seating into our classroom this year has been so well received, and knowing that they have an option other than a chair and a desk to sit at has been empowering to them as individuals.

With school serving as that constant source of comfort and stability for our students after Hurricane Harvey, the addition of flexible seating and more innovative learning opportunities in our classroom will enhance our classroom culture.

The wobble stools and cushions will give my students the ability to have more choices in where they sit based on their learning preferences in addition to our yoga balls.

The addition of more STEM books to our classroom library will further enrich my students' love of learning about innovative thinkers like themselves, and the hardships that others went through on their path to success. We have a saying in our classroom that if are going to make mistakes, we are going to make BIG mistakes- because mistakes are proof that we are trying! STEM innovators are living proof of this, and my students thrive on seeing success come from mistakes!
