As a teacher in the Chinese Dual Language Immersion classroom, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking for ways to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My students are goal-oriented, passionate, clever and spontaneous toward their learning.
They love to read the authentic texts in Chinese and engage in the great conversations with their peers while discussing the contents. They also love to share their voices to the others.
My Project
The rock, mineral and fossils samples will create the valuable hand-on experiences for my Chinese Dual Language Immersion students when they inquiry their ways to be college and career ready.
They will learn the rock types and characteristics of the minerals as well as the fossils found in Utah.
They will learn to categorize fossils into original remain, replaced remains, mold, cast etc. They will be able to touch and feel the rock sample to distinguish the similarity and difference between the different types of rocks. Besides, they will be able to hold million year old specimens in their own hands, which will spark their interest in Earth Science. They will explore index fossils and construct a geologic timescale of Earth.
This will not only spark my students interest in Earth Science class, but will give them the knowledge to understand the world around them now and in the future.
They will understand Earth's past environment and be able to understand implications of future Earth.
