My Students
I love my students very much! Every day they show me enthusiasm for learning. In order to help them learn, I provide many things myself for them to succeed in school. I want them to have the very best because they deserve it!
The school I teach at is a very low economic school.
We have about 95% on free and reduced lunch. My school has a variety of ethnicity, with a majority of students being Hispanic. I teach English as a second language students and ESE students who need my additional support everyday as well as Gen Ed students.
My Project
One of the science standards I teach is to identify rocks and minerals by their properties. Living in Florida the only rocks we have around us are sedimentary rocks, so that makes this standard hard to teach. Science is more fun when you can get your hands on it.
By providing my students concrete examples of rocks and minerals, I am making science hands on and expanding their science world.
When I teach my Rock and Mineral Unit I want my students to be able to touch and look at the difference between the 3 types of rocks. I also want my students to be able to identify mineral properties and have hands on experience with mineral testing.
I need Mineral testing kits and rock collection kits in order to put these experiences in the hands of my students. I want my students to DO science not just see science.
