Dr. Conner from Atlanta GA is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need some of the basic items that will enable them to successfully take flight in their musical education experience. They require items such as reeds, mouthpieces, method books, and drum sticks!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
This year, will undoubtedly be the year of change and progress. It is my esteemed duty and obligation to give my students the optimum music education experience through learning, bonding, performances, evaluations, trips and a host of other activities that will occur throughout the school year that the students will remember for years to come.
My students are some of the brightest and most intelligent young people that are in the Atlanta Public School System.
They are wide eyed and full of energy, passion, potential, and zeal. The dedication that these young people display to me on a daily basis is beyond extraordinary. As a response to their love of music I wanted to try and provide them with everything they'll need to be successful!
Fundamentals are the foundation for which greatness is built upon! In order for my students to gain a holistic music education, it is imperative that they receive the fundamental items necessary for them the excel. For example, drums cannot be played without drum sticks and mallets, and trombones cannot be played without mouthpieces. These type of items are essential to the musical growth of my students.
Obtaining these items are important because it will give them a fair chance to perform like other schools.
They will not be confounded and limited due to their lack of resources. It will also build their confidence and their desire to perform as well! The more they perform, ultimately the better they increase the overall culture in our school and surrounding neighborhoods as a whole!
