My students are the best group of students in my school! I hate to be biased, but they really are. They come to school with a great attitude every day, no matter what is going on in their lives outside of school. That is because our classroom is their home away from home and we are a family. They care about each other and me!
Our school is a Title One school, which means that over half of our students live in poverty.
Even though most of their parents struggle to provide for them at home, they know that the staff at our tiny school will do whatever it takes to make sure they are taken care of. Most importantly, they know they are loved.
It is my goal to make each one of them feel important and to teach them that they can achieve their goals through hard work and dedication!
My Project
We enjoy flexible seating in our classroom. Most of my students choose untraditional seating when given a choice.
They can choose between yoga balls, a couch, an arm chair, bean bags, or wherever they want to sit in the room.
Right now I have regular stools at my kidney table and the students do not think that they are comfortable. I use the kidney table to work in small groups with the students in order to give them the differentiation that they need. If I could offer them wobble stools to sit on during small group time, I think they would be more comfortable and therefore, be more engaged. Please help me give my students this new flexible seating option!
