My students are from a small town in North Carolina. They are avid readers with a love for learning! They are always asking the question "why" and are taking the extra step to dig further into the content I am teaching. They are so engaged throughout each unit and never loose enthusiasm.
My students know that excellence is expected and their differences are valued!
Each student treats their classmates like family. They understand that not all family members get along everyday but they know to always be respectful to one another. "Treat others the way you want to be treated" is what my students live by everyday. No voice goes unheard and every student feels welcome in our classroom community!
My Project
The materials I am requesting through this project will help me to reach all the different reading interests of my students. It will also aid to my read alouds throughout the school year. My students love being read to and the more books I have to choose from the more texts my students will be exposed to. This will help build on their knowledge of books and aid to all students' interests along the way.
Students are not fully engaged and excited about reading unless they are given the opportunity to read about their interests.
When I choose a theme to go along with the content I teach it is based on standards and the interests of my students. These themes have various opportunities for read alouds as well as book investigations. These read alouds are kept in the classroom library and students can check them out in their book boxes throughout the week. These books will allow my students to explore different topics and support my themes throughout the school year.
