My Students

Our school is a Title I school with a population of amazing students and community members. We have a lot of school pride even though we may have limited funds.

48% percent of our students participate in the free and reduced lunch program.

Many of our students are below grade level in reading and math. We have such sweet kids whose parents are doing their best and encouraging education. As a first grade team of teachers, we work hard to show growth within our classes, differentiating learning for many styles.

My Project

Rocking chairs make such a huge difference in my classroom.

Rocking chairs in the classroom mean academic growth across all subjects.

We have just a couple in our classroom right now and would like more students to be able to use them and gain the academic benefits of using them. For most students rocking while they are working helps them with concentration and focus on that task. Kids naturally move, these chairs keep them moving while they complete work. They also help with less classroom disruptions. The kids really enjoy them, but they are also getting their wiggles out without disrupting.
