This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We currently are twenty students strong. We are at a Title One school. Throughout the day, we work on math, writing, science, and reading. We are very excited to see new changes in our classroom. Our favorite snacks include cheese balls, pretzels, and goldfish. We love to dance, count and sing. We have two age groups in our classroom: the P3's who are our three-year-olds and our P4's which are our four-year-olds. Our P4's are a huge help in teaching our younger students how to become successful in their new environment. Some examples include encouraging our P3's to stay in line, sit criss-cross applesauce at the carpet and to help find where our toys belong.
We look forward to making our classroom a second home.
We have started to do this by gaining a class pet, plants, a rug by our guided reading area, more books and hopefully, many items to come in order to make our classroom a fun and safe place to be!
My Project
Help bring a rocking chair and cushion into our classroom to help the teacher become comfy and for students to feel that they are truly at "reading time".
With Pete the Cat books and a puppet students are sure to enjoy the part of the day where the teacher gets to read to them a variety of stories.
The rocking chair will be positioned so that all students have an easier time of getting to see the books and pictures shown.
Students are sure to be more engaged and already love raising their hands to point out what they noticed in the story or asking questions or posing statements that relate to the story and their personal lives.
