Rockin' the Rubik's Cube

Help me give my students Rubik’s cubes for opportunities for problem solving, creativity, perseverance, and friendship.

My Students

Gears turning. Minds racing, Hands occupied. Friendships developing. This is what I see when I coach my Rubik's Cube team. Our club is a magnificent opportunity for visual spacial learners to develop, improve and show-off their strengths. Our club also gives those often quiet thinkers the venue to create friendships that may not occur in the regular classroom setting.

Please consider gifting an amazing tool to these hands-on learners!

We would like to purchase 24 official Rubik's Cubes. With the cubes we already have, this addition would allow us to use creativity, problem solving, and teamwork to create mosaics. In short, students will solve only one side of one cube to match a portion of a photo. When all cubes are put together, one large mural will be created. Students will also learn to create mosaic templates of any picture they want!

The great thing about this project is that it keeps on giving! Each year, the cubes will be reused. My current set has been in use 8 years!

My Project

Teamwork, creativity, problem solving, and perseverance are cornerstones to success in the 21st century. All of these skills are reinforced by learning to solve Rubik's Cube. What do you do once you can solve it? You solve it faster. You compete against other like minded Cubers. You create and design mosaics. You apply what you've learned to solving other sized cubes. You teach others how to solve.

Then, you find yourself being a productive team member in class, following through on difficult tasks, finding creative ways to solve problems outside of academics.

You show pride in your knowledge and work. Your success factor just increased exponentially!
