Mrs. Thompson from Huntersville NC is requesting educational kits & games through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need the Lego Mindstorms EV3 Core Set so they can build and program a robot; they will use teamwork, problem-solving, and computer programming.

This project will provide students at my school with our first Lego Mindstorms EV3 Robotics kit. This year I started a Robotics Club with two Lego Mindstorms NXT kits and the kits have been a huge hit! The robotics club has learned coding, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. The students in the Robotics Club willingly give up their recess at least one day a week to work on their robot. They have successfully built the base model robot, and are now challenging themselves to build a more difficult robot. I only had room for 10 students (5 per kit) on the Robotics Club, but I had over 30 students apply for the club. An additional kit would allow me to include even more students in the Robotics Club.
My school is 53% free and reduced lunch.
The racial breakdown at my school is 48% African American, 27% White, and 15% Hispanic. We need your help to make sure more students have access to this great learning experience!
The Lego Mindstorms EV3 Robotics Kit includes everything I will need to grow the Robotics Club at my school. The kit includes motors, sensors (like color, motion, sound, and light sensors) that students will use to build a functioning robot. Once the robot is built, students will focus on coding the robot using the included Lego Mindstorms Software. This kit also includes teacher information so I can support the students as they work their way through the design process.
Your donation will give my students access to materials that will help them be better problem solvers as they design and program a robot to do a task that will have a positive impact on our world!
Your donation will be used by students at my school for years to come.
