The students in Nashua are a wonderfully diverse group at the middle level. Eleven, twelve and thirteen-year-olds all learning in different ways, at different speeds. At our schools are over 40% of our students qualify to receive free or reduced price lunch. Our students come from all different backgrounds and homes, yet they all desire to learn and better themselves uniquely!
Some of them still believe in Santa Claus, while others have more life experience than I; often tears follow me home at night for this very fact.
This makes them both clever and classy and altogether a special kind of sassy.
The best secret is that when people ask what I do I get to respond holding my hand on my head and give a "Oh. Yes, I teach middle school students and work with their teachers, woe is me." sigh when people respond with a nod of sympathy! Yet, the truth is, everyday I feel lucky to share their burdens and blessings because I DEFINITELY have the best job EVER!
My Project
Provide resources to support and inspire innovative educational initiatives and to leverage community resources to support students and teachers are both parts of my job as I bridge communications to each school and central office.
This past year, as we all braced ourselves discovering innovative ways to bring our classrooms into homes and educate students with as much energy, love and rigger as before; those supporting, looked for ways to help teachers.
I wish I had found Rocketbook Notebooks and Rocketbook Beacons then. These tools are a game changer for all educators. I am requesting funds to purchase these ingenious resources so that each middle school English Class in Nashua will have them.
I am requesting Rocketbooks which are electronic notebooks. This means teachers can write anything down and then with a click of a button, their notes, drawings and graphs can be made digital.
Beacons make any whiteboard smart. This means teachers can connect the whiteboard already up in their classroom to their google classroom with a click of a button. Students will have digital access to notes, agendas, homework lists each day whether they are in the classroom or not.
