Like most schools, my school has closed its doors for the school year. However, learning continues. My campus is a Title I campus with a high number of students who receive free and reduced-price lunch. Their safe place is at school. While not in school we are trying to maintain a level of normalcy by keeping them in touch with teachers. However, most of my students struggle with having the technology to participate in virtual meetings, however, they can usually access lower bandwidth activities, such as 1-2 minute video clips or app-based activities. Although we are struggling with providing the needed technology to our students, we, the teachers, are doing our best to provide quality instruction to them.
With this project, I am seeking the tools to allow me to continue demonstrating to students how to learn and how to be successful with what they are learning using visuals that students can use as a starting point for their independent learning.
These materials will allow me to demonstrate to my students how to take effective notes independently, how to set up proper graphic organizers, and how to develop understanding of historical concepts.
I will use the Rocketbook notebooks and pens to demonstrate what I expect students to be able to do with their self-guided learning times.
I will be able to demonstrate different graphic organizers that students can use to take notes with. The Frixion pens will allow me to add color to the process which helps students recalling information.
With your donations, I will be able to turn my small whiteboard into an interactive board that I can then use with video software to create teachable moments using the Rocketbook beacons.
