My school is located in Harlem, New York City. There are four Pre-K rooms at this location. Three Pre-K rooms are General Education. One Pre-K Room is a Special Class Integrated Setting (SCIS). I am the Special Educator of this room requesting items to enhance their learning experiences. My students love to explore nature items, wash the babies in water play, pretend with the dollhouse, build in the block center and/or cook breakfast in the dramatic play area.

My Pre-K students are so excited when they go out to the playground and collect 'rocks'.
They typically discover broken blacktop or cement. Nonetheless, as teachers, we are still encouraging when they are excited and joyful about the small treasure they found. This is the motivation for starting this DonorsChoose project, to give my students a real opportunity to look at various rocks, gemstones, and crystals. The classroom would have a great scientific opportunity with these additional learning specimens. Students would become small geologists, gemologists or mineralogists.
