My computer lab is a hub of energy and excitement. Over 1,300 students from Pre-K through 5 visit our two labs each week and use technology to learn and explore. They are products of a technology age, and we are there to guide their exploration and learning through technology.
Our population is very diverse.
We have many nationalities, cultures and abilities. We are a Title One school and in a very low-income community where most children receive free lunch. We have an in-depth special education program, a gifted and talented program and a dual language program. My computer lab is used by students in Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade, and many teachers too! An elementary school classroom is like no other place in the world. We are a home for our little ones for seven hours a day. Teachers not only provide an education in Math, Reading and other school subjects; we provide stability, love, acceptance and support for our amazing little people. We educate the whole child. Personally, I strive to teach values, love and acceptance in my room as well.
My Project
We all need a brain break every once in awhile. My students LOVE to dance! Now, we use online videos, but what happens when the Internet is out (and it happens often) - or I am visiting classrooms instead of using my own room? We can't dance! An iPod would solve the problem and make our dancing mobile too! I would load the iPod with tons of music for dancing, and music for independent work times too. An iPod will allow us to dance our sillies away so we can focus on learning!
My students use technology to learn, play, and have fun.
An iPod will help us dance away our sillies, and listen to relaxing music during independent work times too.
In my room, my students learn to care for one another and help wherever they can! Thank you for considering our classroom and our goal to Rock Our World!
