This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The school district of UC works to transform the lives of every student, every day. As teachers, we strive to meet our students on their level and provide real-world experiences that will prepare them for college and beyond.
My students come to school to learn how to compete in an ever-changing, competitive world.
Though they come from various backgrounds, it is my job to ensure that every student is engaged and challenged.
As a reading specialist, my goal is to create lifelong readers by engaging their interests and ensuring my students have a choice in their reading.
My Project
My students are devouring books. Each set of books we receive from Donors Choose supporters are grabbed up and passed from reader to reader. They are ready for more. Many titles are so popular, my students have requested extra copies!
I am shocked by how my students have delved into the books from Donors Choose and want to keep giving them the titles they love.
The list of requested books for this project are some new titles they have asked for over and over again, as well as more copies of titles they have fallen in love with. For example, the Cleopatra in Space series NEVER stays on the shelf!
The number one way for students to improve in reading is to develop that love and interest in reading. The Donors Choose community has opened the floodgates for my students and given them a variety of engaging titles to choose from. Please help me keep them hooked!
