Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As my students walk into the classroom they can often be heard asking what special event we have for the day! They are eager to experience learning in a fun and interesting way. My Kindergarten students are eager to participate in new and hands-on activities they may not have a chance to do at home.
My young students are filled with wonder and joy as they learn something new each day.
Our school is a Title l school in an area where many of the students live in apartments. Many students live with two or three families. At home, they may not have some of the opportunities they could get at school.
My Project
My students are excited to engage in Science, Technology, Environment, Art, and Math( STEAM) activities. I want to provide my students with 21st Century Learning Skills but at times my school lacks these materials. We currently work with hands on materials such as blocks and recycled supplies to create engineering design projects.
I want to be able to give my students the opportunity and excitement of coding robots!
This activity has been generally reserved for older students, but in order for my students to be prepared later in life they need these early learning experiences. This will lay the foundation for future learning!
