Ms. R. from San Jose CA is requesting Educational Kits & Games through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.

Robots Rule

My students need this robot kit because it not only lends itself to coding and robotics, but math and science topics as well, like measurement and physics. It’s a great fit for our STEAM classroom.

My Students

Students sing, dance, create art and participate in reader’s theatre, along with their other academic subjects at Linda Vista Elementary School. Linda Vista is a VAPA school, where we focus on Visual and Performing Arts. Everything from plays to powerpoint presentations, Art in writing and singing to learn different subject matter. STEAM activities are highly explored and encouraged.

My classroom is student-centered, and upon entering, you will find a lively and colorful room wholly centered upon active learning.

The students in room 20 are fully aware of their expectations and are eager to learn. They love technology and learn to use it in a variety of ways. As a teacher, I do my best to inspire thought and curiosity in all my students.

My Project

Students will be building and coding with LEGO’s HEXBUG VEX IQ Robotics Construction Kit. It is the latest robotic platform marketed for schools. The Hexbug set lets students create several different types of robots made from LEGOs, motors, and sensors.

Students will see their robotic creations come to life and learn to code them to do many tasks.

Students should be able to create the Hexbug robot from scratch and use it in a range of activities with teacher support. The Hexbug robot project provides a great opportunity for STEAM teaching and integrates technology in my classrooms in a meaningful way. Our goal is to create a robot prior to the county STEAM fair in Mid March of this year.
