Our school serves school students grades 7 through 12 and is located one block from City Hall. Students live in many areas of the city. For the most at-risk students, those with habitual truancy, significant behavior issues, and histories of suspension and expulsion, the goal is to change behavior so that these students will stay in school and earn enough credits to graduate.
This year we are creating a series of classes for "life skills" where students can choose projects & activities that include science, math, literacy and art!
My Project
Students will explore Lectrify kits to build something new. They will have a chance to build & try out a variety of DIY circuitry creations,
Creating DIY robots will help students learn more about electricity & circuits.
Students will choose a project to create & discuss why they are interested in the project. As they work with teams or individually, students will assess what they like/don't like about their process.
When finished students will create a short ad for their DIY project. The ad will feature the robot (or other creation) & highlight 3 reasons why other students would enjoy this project.
