Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
There are many great things going on at our school. Our school’s distinguished practice is health and fitness. We focus on many ways to incorporate activities to keep our bodies and minds healthy. This past school year, four schools competed in track and field. Several of our students placed and earned medals. This year, we brought music class to our school. Also, this is the second year that we are providing an after-school orchestra.
As a teacher of students who come from low-income families, I push them to persevere and be the best that they can be.
Living close to a tourist attraction, many of my students and their families are unable to go because they can’t afford it. Our school is a Title I school where the majority of the students receive free or reduced-price lunch.
Some of my students live in motels or a crowded room. Some of my students are responsible for caring for their younger siblings as their parents work long hours. Whatever the circumstances may be, they come to school to learn.
My Project
I am requesting two iPads to for my students so they can use it to control and code robots in the classroom. Currently, we have several robots and only one iPad. I have been relying on students' smart phones to code the robots. I only fear that something might happen to their phones and I get upset parents. In order to relieve that, I need more iPads.
How in the world can you control robots without controllers?
You can't. By donating to this project, you will help my students learn more about STEM, robotics, and coding. They will get to think like an engineer.
