A typical day in my classroom involves me doing the very best I can to engage and excite my students so that they are eager to learn. Unfortunately, I am often limited by the resources of my school and am unable to do many of the things I'd like to do to help all of my learners.
The students at my school are predominantly Hispanic and African-American.
They attend a public school in an area that is known for having low performing schools and struggling students. It is a severely underfunded district in the cash-strapped state of California. Our school is looking to change that--our goal is to close the achievement gap and create a great school in this area!
My students often come without basic supplies and it's my goal to give them a classroom where they have the best of everything and all the materials they need. My students are amazing! Despite the setbacks that many of them face, they do not ever complain or whine to me one bit about their problems. My students never complain and they always give me 110% effort and try their very best.
My new class will be able to learn coding and robotics by programming the Ciro Robots. Students will work in pairs to build, create and program their very own robot. Aside from the STEM skills they will acquire, the students will benefit from the opportunity to communicate with each other, collaborate, problem solve and explore solutions as problems arise. This project will a put a strong emphasis on child's overall development, it is to help children build a solid foundation in Science, Technology, Engineering, Crafts, and Robot knowledge. This project will give my students the ability to learn coding and showcase their creativity in creation, while creating future leaders in STEM!
