Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a special education teacher and see that my students work better with hands on activities. To integrate science and math with a great activity will help them work as a team and build something. Everyday is a great day to learn something new.
I teacher in New Jersey and our resources are limited.
All of my students are special education students and are in middle school. My students range from 6th to 8th grade. Each student needs are different and learns differently. Everyday I need to think outside the box so they learn. Hands on activities are the best for them so they can work in groups and each have a part. Building things in groups gives them the opportunity to all do what they do best.
My Project
Students will be integrating computer science, math, and science. They will learn about simple machines, velocity, circumference of wheels, gears, transportation, and engineering. Students ill connect the lesson of robots with real-life experiences and use interactive media. They will construct the robots in small groups engaging in both hands and minds to design, construct, and test their robots. The paper robots will get them start in their learning. The Fun Mechanics will given them hands on experience. The students will reflect on what they have learned and process through questions and answers. The student will be engaging in 21st century skills teamwork, cooperation, and collaboration.
Our school has limited resources and my students will not be able experience this without donations.
The district nor the students have the finances to explore robots. Students will be able to work together to experiences new things with hands on learning and with exploring 21st century skills.
