My Students

Teaching new technology to 5th and 6th-grade students is exhilarating and always full of exciting adventures. Our school serves students in grades 5-6 and provides rigorous academics, fantastic teachers and a safe learning environment. As educators, we have the responsibility to educate and inspire the whole child—mind, heart, and soul. By focusing on the following essentials, we can put more joy into students' experience of going to school and get more joy out of working inside one.

Focusing on 21st learning skills, this activity enhances and engages student work which can be assessed not only in technology but throughout the curriculum.

My Project

One of the biggest problems in our school is the number of plastic bottles left out on the playground after recess. Students go from lunchroom to the playground area carrying their lunchboxes and plastic drink containers. They finish and leave out on the sidewalk or playground or grass area.

With the customizing of a robot, plastic bottles meet their match.

A possible solution is for the students to design a robot that is able to detect plastic bottles collect the bottles and place them in a recycle bin. The lack of hardware such as iPads, laptops and robotic kits. Also engineering kits.
