Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from diverse backgrounds and have a thirst for knowledge. They come from homes that experience hardships but they are always eager and ready to learn. Each morning they are set in motion by engaging great educators at my school.
My students look forward to collaborate and grow with one another.
As chatty as they can get at times, they learn from each other through experiences and projects. Their learning is tied to each of their interactions. Our class culture is always tied to helping each other growth, with new challenges my students build stronger friendships and learn compassion as well.
My Project
Imagine being able to see students collaborating, questioning, experimenting, and creating with Sphero. It is super exciting! Along with math and science opportunities, let's envision using Sphero during a discovery time in the classroom. During this time students self select and explore their interests. Sphero is a well developed product that provides free apps and lesson plans for teachers. These lesson plans are integrated for math and science and aligned to the common core standards. In addition to the lesson plans, Sphero provides STEM lab challenges, that require teamwork and critical thinking to achieve a goal. I am requesting 5 Sphero robotic balls for my students. I feel there are endless possibilities with Sphero and that is why I am so passionate about it. Sphero is a tool that does not teach one skill. It provides an opportunity for students to learn new technology, work as a team, and apply the scientific method to their play.
