My students need these robots and accessories, which will allow them to learn the basics of coding and become more prepared for their technology-rich future.
In our classroom, students are engaged most in activities which connect them to the real world and to their futures. Unfortunately, several students are coming from homes where access to technology is limited. By giving them access in the classroom, I hope to level the playing field for all.
Our population is a diverse one, both in home life and learning styles.
My students especially love learning activities wherein they can move around, manipulate objects, and collaborate with others. They enjoy that satisfying feeling of accomplishing a concrete task, as well as being creative and designing their own assignments.
My Project
By learning how to code these complex yet child-friendly robots, students will gain access to basic technology skills which will help them infinitely in college and careers. They will learn to program robots in order to accomplish tasks and solve problems in math and literacy, all while learning valuable social skills such as collaboration and communication with their peers. Students will use code to design strategic games, while others will use code to manipulate around obstacles and through mazes. All of these activities can be applied to practicing math fact fluency, spelling and reading sight words, identifying geometric patterns, and so much more. My hope is that not only will their technological adeptness increase, but their engagement in basic learning tasks will increase also.
It is so important for this diverse group of students to understand how technology works in their everyday lives, as well as the role they can each play in technology.
By donating, you will help to empower each of these children and assist their learning in a way they will surely never forget.
