This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our students are fierce explorers, curious academics, and enthusiastic seekers! While the backgrounds of our students vary widely, their commitment to their education is unyielding. They dream of being astrophysicists, obstetricians, computer programmers and graphic designers.
My students are kind and their integrity is unquestionable.
They practice reflection and strive to constantly improve themselves through their classwork, relationships and extracurricular activities. My students remind me that their is hope for the future because they will be in charge of it.
My Project
The value of a school Maker Space can not be understated. Research shows that students who have access to a maker space learning environment have increased problem solving skills and a feeling of empowerment. As one of our district's selected STEAM pilot schools, this type of environment is essential, but is a new experience for all of us.
Authentic, hands-on learning is the most valuable thing a child can receive.
The use of the Arduinos, raspberry pis and miniature robot kits will provide students an interactive way to develop their skills, ranging from electronics wiring, computer programming, and robot building. These materials are the key to creating a hands-on and motivating environment that will begin our journey to true real-life problem solving.
