A typical day in our classroom is very interactive. My students are hands-on learners and love to be engaged every day. They are six and seven year old students who are eager to explore and learn about everything! My biggest challenge is bridging the gap between innovation and education.
My students are very intelligent and well-deserving of an ivy-league education.
Unfortunately, many of the students come from low-income households where their parents work very hard at jobs that pay little to nothing. This puts my students at a disadvantage oftentimes, particularity when it comes to experiences and information. Despite their socioeconomic status, these kids have an insatiable urge to learn. This is why I believe so strongly in our students, my school, and the impact these kids will have on future generations to come!
My students need 24 Super Solar Recylcers to enhance their learning about Earth Day, Robotics, Solar Energy, and Engineering by using recycled materials. My students will use the materials that I am requesting to build robots out of recycled materials that do not require batteries because they use solar energy to function. If this project is fully funded, I want to contact a local newspaper as well to interview the students about their projects and how they correlate with Earth Day! This project would not only teach about recycling, engineering, and innovation but my students would also learn about the recognition that comes from transforming and inventing things. This would inspire them and plant a seed for their own ideas to make the world a better place.
Donations for this project would improve my classroom by helping my students apply a different task to the term "Earth Day" and "Eco-friendly." This project will help change my students' lives by showing them that things can and do operate without batteries.
This will help them think outside of the box and inspire them to reuse materials to make other useful machinery and explore ways to use our solar energy for even bigger ideas to come!
