Help me give my students better tools for a more effective robotics build season. The tap and die set will really help us in building a precision robot.
My students who will benefit most from this project are the 25 students that are part of our school's robotics team. We will be entering our second year as a robotics team and our second year competing in the Buckeye Regional FIRST Robotics Competition. We have students who already have some experience in robotics and also students with zero experience. We have teachers and 4 community members that volunteer their time to mentor the young robotics team, but extra funding will help strengthen our program.
Building a strong robotics program is good for students and the community.
I have witnessed many students gain confidence and passion for science and technology in our first year as a team. I have also seen community members come together to help promote the team. I believe that having a strong robotics team can be exciting and fun for the community. Our team does plenty of community outreach such as holding a science night event and helping the elementary school run their science fair.
My Project
Our students are entering the second year as a robotics team for the FIRST robotics competition. My students are putting on a science night at our high school for the younger students in the community. Science night is full of science demonstrations and the showing off of our robot to get the community and younger students to get excited about science and robotics. The students are also working very hard in fundraising for the registration fee to the competition. They learn a lot about designing, building and programming while competing in FIRST.
New tools would give my students a better experience while building their robot.
They would be able to work more efficiently and their would will be more precise, resulting in a better robot and students that learned more and gained more confidence from the experience. The new tap and die set will be very helpful when students are building the robot and making prototypes because many designs are original and cannot follow predrilled holes like on a kit-build. The wires and other tools will help make the testing and building of the prototype run more efficiently to leave us with more time to practice with the robot.
