This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am teaching JROTC Cadets Robotics for the first time this year. Our Cadets have shown incredible motivation and resilience in the face of the adversity they have faced this year. They continue to be leaders inside the classroom and their communities as well. Even though most of my Robotics Class is virtual due to health concerns I have a core group of 7 Cadets who are meeting to prepare their project for a competition in January. The courage they show working tirelessly to design, engineer, and code their project is inspiring to say the least.

My Project

Engineering solves the world's problems. Robotics teaches students the basics of this concept as we design, engineer, and program our robot to compete in competitions. This is the first time robotics has been offered in our high school so we are learning as we go.

One of the lessons we are learning is we don't have the necessary equipment to download the software we need for coding.

With this laptop, I can prepare my students for the automated jobs of the future. For many of them, this will change the trajectory of their entire future. I have been told many times by students that they aren't cut out for college. I don't believe that. I think all they need is the inspiration and skills to know they will be successful.
