Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Watch out world, here comes my 5th grade class! This up-coming class of fifth graders consists of high-achieving or gifted students and they need science, technology, engineering and mathematics taught to them in a way that is going to have them reaching new heights.
The students starting in my room next year are all labeled gifted or high-achieving.
They come from a high-poverty area. The majority come to school hungry and go home to empty houses or to care for younger siblings while parents work multiple jobs.
In my room, I work diligently to provide students with enrichment that will foster their natural intelligence, because I know it needs to start at school. Most of these students come from families who give their all to make sure they have a roofs over their heads and food on their tables. You can help by donating to our current project. The only chance these student may have to explore this kind of technology is right here in my classroom.
My Project
Research shows that students who are exposed to integrated science, technology, engineering and math at an early age are better prepared to function in our workforce. The key is tapping into their natural childhood imagination while challenging them to problem-solve in these subject areas. Many of their gifts lie in mathematics and the sciences. What better way to start preparing them to be future leaders and solve the world's problems than by giving them the opportunity to build and create robots today?
By donating to this project, you will be giving my students the chance to explore robotics and laying the foundation for them to have future opportunities to program and design their own robots.
Students will be learning science, technology, engineering and math in the context of real-world problem solving. This set will be used by the 21 students in my room and can be shared with more than 60 other students in the fifth grade.
