I have the pleasure of working with students in kindergarten through fifth grade. I love giving them new technology tasks to enhance their learning and spark their desire to keep learning new things. I want to give them the experience of working with Wonder Workshop's Dash and Dot robots.
My students are eager and excited about learning to code.
I recently introduced coding to my classes and they were so excited! I would love to give them the opportunities to learn about robotics. Our students are curious and bright, ready to explore the world in which they live. They are motivated to discover information that will provide answers to their inquiries.
My students come from an extremely low-socioeconomic setting in the south-central Kentucky, where basic school supplies are often difficult for parents to provide. I want to provide resources for this great educational discovery process to unfold!
My Project
Using robotics in the classroom is helping to create tomorrow’s out-of-the-box innovators.
Robotics in the classroom encourage hands-on play and learning to make creative problem-solving concrete and tangible.
My vision is to inspire kids of all ages by giving them tools to imagine and invent the future.
I started with Code.org this year with my technology classes, but I want to give my students more hands-on opportunities. I invited guests with our state technology department to visit my classroom to teach my students and me how to use Dash and Dot. The excitement was contagious! The students keep asking me when I'm going to get them a class set so they can do more hands-on coding. By funding this project my students will be able to use the I-pad to code the robots. I will be able to use these materials not only in my technology lab, but also to integrate with the core classes as well.
