My Students

Our school is certified using energy efficient fixtures, solar energy to heat water and cisterns to capture rain for area grounds. The enrollment of Koontz Intermediate includes 415 white, 163 Hispanic, 62 Black, 45 Multi, and 24 Asian. We have 163 students qualified for the AIG program and 106 student in the Special Education program.

In addition to our diverse and global population, the social and economic diversity is also evident.

There are several large mobile home parks/communities, many small mobile home parks and low-income rental properties. We have 7 new condominiums complexes that opened within 1 to 2 miles. There are also several affluent subdivisions and communities within our district.

We are a Title 1 School as 48.59 percent of our student population receives free & reduced lunch services. Our Homeless population includes 19 students identified as homeless and 33 who are ‘likely number of homeless students.

My Project

A Lego expansion set will allow my robotics students to further their understanding of engineering and design ideas. The added resources in this set will allow them to design attachments and create mechanical elements.

Students are excited about robotics!

The programming and ideas book will spark new ideas and support students learning. I can't wait to see what new idea the students develop and explore with these resources!

Recently I had students create a robot that they were using to type on a keyboard. The added resources will allow them to further develop their programming abilities and make their ideas a reality.
