I teach in Title I school in the city of Thousand Oaks, CA. About a third of my students are English Learners. This year our school is planning to integrate NGSS and various STEAM activities in order to prepare our students for the demands of the ever-evolving technology fields of the 21 century. I am very excited to be part of my students’ third grade experience and can't wait to see them and their minds grow as we make this journey together.
This is my first year teaching in this school as a full time teacher (I've done some math intervention work at the same school last year) and I would like to have my classroom set up in a way that will accommodate collaborative learning and will be conducive to teaching STEAM based lessons, as well as provide exposure to the English language learning through Reading, Writing and accountable conversations.
My Project
I am very excited about an opportunity for my students to experience the robotics for the very first time in their third grade classroom. My students were recently reading about different types of robots and then designing their own models on paper and in 3-D. I am certain that they are ready and excited for the next step. Robotics is the way to go in today’s world and I hope that having our own classroom kit will affors my students an opportunity to explore this exciting field. I will be learning along their side and I hope to continue to inspire my current and my future students with the current technologies and innovations of today!
