This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a second-year educator, I teach third grade at a wonderful school located in Detroit. Our students come from a wide range of backgrounds, experiences, and family structures.
We have beautiful students who are always motivated to learn!
As an educator, I strive to provide them with the best opportunities for aiding their education. It is essential that teachers can provide their students with materials that allow them to learn in ways that meet their various unique needs. Children need a chance to experiment as they learn and I aim to provide that.
My Project
My students come from a wide range of backgrounds, experiences, and family structures. For some of my students, our school is their first structured educational environment. The world is changing and technology is moving at a fast pace. Children need to be exposed to the world of computer science, robotics, and coding. They are eager and passionate about making things move and learning how things work. Dash robots will help them explore technology around them.
My students will be able to use the Dash robots on a regular basis to learn computer science, robotics, and coding.
My hope is to get my kids to explore topics of their choice and robots have been on their list. This will enhance their learning of STEM as children manipulate math and science in the five various apps that Dash comes with such as Blocky or Go. Mobile robots will capture the attention of our students and fascinate them- especially when they see that they are the ones who can control the robots with programmed movements.
If I can capture my students' attention early and develop a love for computer science, robotics, coding, and STEM, I believe they will have a better shot at developing future technologies. These are skills the children will have to know as they grow up and these robots will lay down a solid foundation.
