My Students

Nitro Elementary School has approximately 350 students with a teacher ratio of 22 to 1. Students can be enrolled in grades Pre-K to 5th. Roughly 64 percent of our students are eligible for free or reduced lunch.

I have an incredible group of student's that loves hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions!

I am in my 6th year of teaching, and love going into work every morning. I believe in order to create a learning community as an educator you must show students that you care and are concerned about what they are learning and their needs.

My Project

We all know the how the advancement of technology has impacted the learning environment of our students; 21st century skills are necessary for our students to be successful in their future. This product incorporates robotics, technology, STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) activities, and collaboration.

Sphero SPRK is an app-enabled robot, programmable through coding, fostering imagination in our students.

This product lays the foundation for computer science and is reachable for all skill levels. My students have already shown an interest in coding programs through other online resources. I would love to provide them with a more hands on, and engaging method of showing their creativity that enriches learning.
