This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are falling behind. We are one of the most technologically advanced nations in the world, but with only a few professionals to work in the field.

I work at a Title I school, where about 80 percent of the students receive free or reduced-price lunch.

About half of the students in my school come from a non English speaking homes and most identify themselves with a minority’s group.

I am a social studies/ESE/gifted teacher with an ESOL endorsement, so I usually have a variety of students in my class. I can easily have, in my schedule, honor students as well as those who struggle academically.

My Project

Our technology club became a class. A class that teaches kids about coding and robotics. The robotic kits I am requesting will be used to create different configurations of robots and to learn the coding language involved in the process of operating these robots; as well as real-life uses for robots.

Besides the robots, we do our own engineering book.

The students draw and describe their work on a daily basis.

Kids definitely learn by "getting their hands dirty." An introduction to technology class will offer a learning environment for kids to practice extracurricular activities while getting inspired to pursue new goals.
