Mrs. Arnold from Colorado Springs CO is requesting Educational Kits & Games through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need the EV3 Core set for the “brain” and the sensors. The EV3 Expansion set has the extra parts to design and build the robot.
Do you remember when you were in elementary school and enjoyed exploring with LEGOs? Seeing what you could create and then imagining and playing with them for hours? I will be working with my three fifth grade classes for science during school as well as after school in different science clubs. Our brand new school has no science materials hidden in forgotten closets around the school so we are building our science and technology program from the ground up this year. To teach robotics, you need robotic kits. That is why we need your help.
I am excited beyond words and am thinking of this year as an adventure!
These students are excited about this new endeavor and are anticipating new summits in learning. Our students come from a variety of backgrounds; many have come from public and private schools while the rest have been home schooled. We have a few students that are gifted as well as those that have physical challenges as well as those with learning differences. But all of them are ready for new and exciting challenges! Since this is our first year, I will be learning more about our students this year.
Putting together a robotics lab is something that helps students in a variety of ways. Students are exposed to STEM experiences that open up a world of opportunities to their future.
Robotics brings together students with different strengths and allows them to help others overcome areas of challenge; whether it is with gender skills, communication skills or a social or physical needs.
Students are paired up with others to reach a common goal; getting the robot designed, created, programmed and able to accomplish each task. It takes communication as well as many other skills to accomplish this.
Through this process, students continually analyze what is working and what needs to be changed. Goals are set, met and then remade. True, robotics is like other topics that allow students think and analyze, but this project is definitely for those students who want to be SCIENCE NERDS when they grow up!
