This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My class is a wonderful mixture of kids from a high poverty area. My students are African American, Hispanic, and Caucasian that attend a Title I school. They have hard working families who want their child to have a great future.
My kids are awesome because they all have different strengths!
They enjoy working in groups and with hands on materials. They need to make connections between school learning and life skills.
Many of my students are in Tier reading and math groups and need extra encouragement to push themselves. It's amazing to see their faces light up when they grasp new concepts that they struggled with.
My Project
An iPad Mini 4 will give my students access to so many activities! They will be able to access the camera to take pictures of their work or make short videos. There are so many learning apps that will benefit my English Learners and Specials Education students that are easier to manage on an iPad than on a computer.
Perhaps the most important reason my students want an iPad Mini 4 is to program Dash and Dot, our school robots.
We are hoping to have our own set of Dash and Dot donated and will need a tablet to control them. The world of coding is opening up new career paths and I want my students to have experience coding. We would greatly appreciate any donations toward this project!
