At the my school, we believe that students thrive in environments where expectations are clear and consistent at all levels, and where students are known — not only by their peers, but by the entire school community. An emphasis on curriculum that places the student at the center of inquiry is the foundation for the school’s four critical learning “cornerstones.” These cornerstones are: rigorous academics, arts literacy, and personal and civic growth.
Through service learning, students bring the community into the classroom and extend the walls of the classroom out into the community.
Service learning offers a way to tie the curriculum to community action. Students identify community problems; design, implement, and evaluate action plans; and engage in ongoing personal reflection. Through these experiences, students become active, contributing members of the school community, the city of Hoboken, and beyond. In developing this approach, my school has developed relationships with a wide variety of individuals and groups within our community.
My Project
FIRST Tech Challenge team 12806, Roboken, just ended our sophomore season. In this season the team really stepped up their work and made it to states. They were so very close to making it to worlds. We are super excited for the 2019-20 season.
Roboken needs a new Tetrix competition kit to build our next robot.
Our current kit is two years old and many of the parts are worn. The team would like to have a fresh start for the new season. Additionally, we would like to keep our current robot together. To make all this happen, we need a new kit.
The Tetrix kit requested contains all of the hardware components needed for the team to build a great new robot. Please support the team by contributing to this project!
